Nice list steindork. I actually think that ReaVocode and mda_talkbox are the best. TAL seemed to have nice options, but I liked the sound of ReaVocode more. So once again I found that the plugin already provided by Reaper is my fist choice ;)

I have the EVM vocoder, tried it out a bit and it seems nice. Have to do some more with it though and test others (to get rid of my Vokator).

RE: Freeware Vocoders?

I recently used Vocoder on vocals in a project and, after trying several out (including ReaVocode) I got my best results with TAL. That said, they were all a bit different, was kind of cool to see all the variations of vocoders out there.

RE: Freeware Vocoders?

As someone who has never used a vocoder yet...which one is easiest to use to get started? I've never had a need for one (never thought about it)but my current project needs vocal help, so I thought I may give it a try. Any suggestions for general vocoder use,and/or which one to start with? Thanks!

RE: Freeware Vocoders?

ReaVocode is easy to use. That said, most Vocoders are easy to use once the basic principle is understood. Yet you will have to work an all vocoders with sending two different signals to them, the carrier and the modulation. Also the choice of the synthesizer sound and the octave you play it in is important for the result, it should be rich with overtones and played in the octave where the vocals are in. try search in this forum and there are also tutorials on youtube. my english vocabulary is too poor to explain it, sorry. Others will surely jump in.
