001 XP 6.4 freeze up when in record

OK, I've posted this problem once before, but it has returned! The problem occurs (intermitently...sp?) when I have 2, or more, channels in record mode....when I press play (while in record) the program freezes up for about a minute and then begins playing. When I press "stop" it freezes, for about a minute, again. It is not a power usage problem. Any setting changes I might try?

What do you have your open ended record allocation set to? (Setups->preferences on the Operations tab) Limiting it to 5 or 10 minutes might alleviate your problem a bit.

I've messed with that but it didn't help. This problem came out of nowhere (don't they all??) as I've been using this particular setup since 12/05 without having any problem of this nature until recently. At first I thought it was my Guitar Rig (I had reinstalled it and the problem seemed to go away for a while) but it's not. Thanks!
